Composite tanks incorporating nanotechnology

Composite tanks incorporating conductive nanotechnology for pyrolysis applications
At M.I.P. Tanks & Silos, we are constantly working on the development of advanced storage systems. We are currently building a number of impressive cylinders at our factory for a pyrolysis application. These composite tanks are fitted on the inside with a conductive nanotechnological coating based on carbon nanotubes (CNTs).
This innovative inner coating makes the tanks anti-static and electrically conductive, ensuring they comply with the ATEX directives for the storage of volatile or flammable products, such as pyrolysis oil.

Thanks to the addition of nanotubes, electrical resistance is dissipated in a controlled manner, without affecting the mechanical properties of the composite. Furthermore, the nanostructure increases the wear resistance of the surface. This is a major advantage in applications involving abrasive or viscous media.
With this project, we are demonstrating just how far composite technology has now advanced. What used to be possible only in steel, we are now achieving in composite: stronger, lighter and ready for the future.
