Why choose plastic or polyester silos?
Silos can be constructed from various materials, such as concrete, stainless steel, aluminium or steel. At M.I.P., we manufacture silos exclusively from glass-fibre-reinforced plastic (GRP). GRP consists of a combination of polyester, resin and glass fibre.
Why do we at M.I.P. use composite as a building material for our silos? Once the resin has cured, it is resistant to chemicals and various weather conditions. We’d like to explain a few other advantages:
- Corrosion-resistant & maintenance-free: unlike other materials, composite is impermeable to water, gases & vapours. As the material does not rust, composite storage systems require almost no maintenance.
- Unrestricted design: composite systems and accessories are produced using moulds, meaning they can be manufactured in any shape or to any design.
- Resistant to condensation: thanks to their high thermal insulation value, composite silos are less susceptible to condensation. This ensures product quality.
