Every year, the proportion of brine used in de-icing in Europe is increasing. And rightly so, as brine has a number of undeniable advantages over road salt:

  • Brine adheres much more easily to the road surface than road salt, meaning that brine achieves a de-icing effect more quickly and effectively.
  • It is environmentally friendly as you use less salt per metre of road surface. (Brine consists of three-quarters water).
  • Works faster; a salt spreader can travel at 40 km/h, whereas one using brine can travel at 70 km/h.
  • It is cheaper because 20% less salt is used.

  • Composite tanks are ideally suited for brine storage due to their corrosion-resistant properties. However, brine tanks must also meet a number of very specific requirements. This is because it is a specialised storage system whose complexity lies within its internal structure.

To maintain the salt content in the brine at the correct level, our brine storage tanks are fitted with sensors and an automatic water supply system that ensure the salt-to-water ratio remains optimal at all times. In addition, the tanks can be fitted with an agitator to keep the solution in motion and thus maintain a uniform salt concentration throughout.

The tanks are available in vertical or horizontal configurations with a capacity of up to 500 m³. They can be fitted, as required, with the necessary pump controls, leak detection systems, connections, pipework, pumps, cage ladders, safety platforms, manholes and the like.
