Composite tanks with nanotechnology

Composite tanks with conductive nanotechnology for pyrolysis applications

At M.I.P. Tanks & Silos, we continuously work on developing advanced storage systems. We are currently constructing several impressive cylinders in our factory for a pyrolysis application — composite tanks equipped on the inside with a conductive nanotechnology layer based on Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs).

This innovative inner layer makes the tanks antistatic and electrically conductive, ensuring compliance with ATEX guidelines for the storage of volatile or flammable products such as pyrolysis oil.

Thanks to the addition of nanotubes, the electrical resistance is safely dissipated without affecting the mechanical properties of the composite. Moreover, the nanostructure increases the wear resistance of the surface — a major advantage for applications involving abrasive or viscous media.

With this project, we demonstrate how far composite technology has evolved. What was once only possible in steel, we now achieve in composite: stronger, lighter, and ready for the future.
